When you publish some content in Mambo you can choose what kinds of user are allowed to see the content. You can choose between public (ie. all users), registered (all logged-in users) or special (like administrators).

While this is often exactly what you need, it is a "take it or leave it" choice! Either you see it all, or you see nothing.

In contrast, MosIf not only allows you to control precisely what parts of a document people will see as in the following example:

The users john, batman and whirleybird will see the text "Hello, nice to see you again!" while all other users will see "Hi stranger!"

MosIf also introduces more conditions. Instead of just testing on the user group, you can base the condition on user name, user type (like author or publisher), frontend language, IP address and cookie values. For even further flexibility you can test on multiple values and use wildcards when specifying the conditions.
