    Simplest Forum Joomla! 's simplest and easiest to use forum component. It provides a super basic interface for both users and administrators while still being useful. Simplest Forum is Joomla! 1.5's first fully native forum.

    Simplest Forum 1.5.0 was released this morning along with a file attachment / upload plugin (simplestforumupload). Version 1.5.0 makes some under the hood changes to how posts are stored and makes a few bug fixes. I'd like to thank Andrew Forsberg for his helpful work on the upload plugin! I'd also like to thank Ewout Wierda for his continued ideas and suggestions!

    There are both a fresh install component for 1.5.0 as well as a 1.4.2 to 1.5.0 upgrade package, so please make sure you use the correct one.

    Ninjaboard is based on one of the first Joomla! 1.5 native forum extensions that came to market in 2008. Waiting for a 1.5 native version of the forum we use here on Ninja Forge - Fireboard, it became clear that the lifetime of the project was soon to be over, as Best of Joomla! said that they saw Kunena as the successor to Fireboard forum software.

    That was the time when we Ninjas thought about starting our own project, possibly based on Fireboard, to prevent it getting lost in the pit.

    Through further investigations, which forum component would be a great candidate to be developed further, we came across the quite fresh project Joo!BB which at that time was one of the few 1.5 native projects that was strictly following the MVC model. For the development of Joomla! 1.5 native extensions it is a quasi obligation in order to really make use of all the good new features. This not only gives our software the best performance, but also facilitates easier development and mainainance, as any new developer can quickly get familiar with the source. This guarantees a continuous flow in the life cycle, even when a responsible developer is sick, otherwise tied up or simply leaves the company.

    Joo!BB stands for Joomla! Bulletin Board. It is a highly customizable, fully Joomla!™ integrated bulletin board. In contrast to Joomla it is not an open source project. But it is freeware! This forum software was started in the context of my thesis (diploma) at the Pforzheim University in July 2007. Responsible person was Prof. Dr. Stephan Thesmann (www.thesmann.net). Topic of the work: "Influence of Online-Marketing on the development of webbased software by the example of a Social-Network-Application".

    The time of education is over now... But... Joo!BB began as an education project and has been planned from it first line of code to become one of the best components for Joomla.

    Kunena is a fork of the popular FireBoard forum component for Joomla. Due to the fact that over time SVN and now BOJ forums have been locked down we have seen no option but to create a fork, in order to let the community developers continue on this great component. Based on FireBoard 1.0.5RC3 it includes hundred of fixes and optimizations over the original FireBoard component. In addition many new fixes and additions are in the works based on previously unpublished work.
